How did hundreds of tennis balls end up in the sewage system of the famed Wimbeldon tennis grounds? Nobody knows or nobodies talking – but sewer workers from Severn Trent had to get all the tennis balls and other debris out of the sewer system before it clogged up the pipes and caused a nasty sewer spill during the world famous tennis matches.
According to the Severn Trent network manager…
“We expect sewers to get blocked with fats or baby wipes, but not tennis balls. How on earth people have managed to flush quite so many, I don’t know, but this is just one example of amazing things we find blocking the sewers.”
