Auger Monster: The industry pioneer of wastewater screw screens.

The Auger Monster is an all-in-one screw screen equipment system that combines three technologies — a grinder, a fine screen and a compactor. This unit is designed to efficiently collect, clean and convey solids out of the waste stream channel.

As with most Muffin Monster® equipment, the Auger Monster, is definitely a beast of burden & engineered to last. And with today’s waste stream environment, proper maintenance is key to ensure your screw screen equipment is running at optimal efficiency & as long as possible without major issues.

3 tips to help you get the most out of your Auger Monster.

  1. Set up a proper Inspection Schedule

Inspecting screw screen equipment on an annual basis, will help reveal what items are nearing the end of their lifespan before finding out the hard way. Typical wear parts on an auger, include cutters & auger brushes. As an example, 18 – 24 months is a typical lifespan that can be expected on wear items such as auger brushes. But an Auger Monster rotor can last 10 or more years with proper care & protection from the grinder. Many factors affect the lifespan of the equipment, such as grit, wastewater type, as well as the presence or absence of the grinder. An inspection schedule will allow you to stay on top of areas that could be detrimental later on.

  1. Test Test Test

Periodically running functional testing of screw screen equipment can help identify what component requires more attention. Our Auger Monster, is comprised of a grinder, a finescreen, a compactor and a control panel. (In some cases you may not have a grinder present). Each technology, is crucial to the success of the all in one screw screen system. We recommend reviewing each component’s mechanical & electrical efficiency on a regular basis.

  1. Check your run time cycles

Run time cycles can vary from site to site & from season to season. Getting to know those variables & adjusting equipment to those conditions will provide with the best discharge. In general, a forward bias consisting of short forward cycle durations with even shorter to no reverse cycle durations works best by allowing for increased spray wash contact time as well as minimizing brush wear. 20 seconds is a typical forward cycle duration and a good start. The cycle duration is programmable and can easily be adjusted to best suit the conditions of the specific site
