Finescreen Monster
The Monster Separation System® is a complete, high-performance system that provides high capture rate of wastewater solids and more efficient washing and compacting, resulting in a discharge that is remarkably clean and ready for disposal. The more unwanted solids removed at the headworks of your treatment plant, the better the whole facility will run.
The Finescreen Monster® incorporates a continuous band of stainless steel or optional StapleGuard™ ultra high molecular weight (UHMW) polyethylene perforated panels attached to heavy-duty stainless steel roller chains. Panels are available with 1/8″ or 1/4″ (3 or 6mm) openings. The stainless steel rollers track in UHMW guides at the bottom of the screen, thus eliminating the need for sprockets or bearings submerged in the wastewater flow.
Small wastewater solids typically missed by bar screens such as rags, cigarette butts, latex, plastics and small debris, are readily captured by the perforated screening panels and lifted to deck level where a two-stage brushing and wash water system removes them. Materials is then conveyed to the Screenings Washer Monster® for additional washing, dewatering and compacting. The SWM has helped some treatment plants reduce the volume/weight of screenings by up to 95%. The unique Finescreen Monster captures far more debris and, thanks to the SWM, sends less to the landfill.
During screen operation JWCE’s optional Monster Blind Diagnostic System™ monitors, calculates and displays the percent of screen “blinding”. There are three significant benefits of this patent-pending control system. First, MBDS allows the screens to automatically operate at optimal efficiency. Second, it continuously updates the control room on the screen’s precise performance so upsets (for example heavy grease loading) can be detected and dealt with early on before the problem can grow. And finally, MBDS can inform operations when the cleaning brush or spray nozzles need adjustment. Monster Blind Diagnostic System is always watching the screens so you have less to worry about.

Features and Benefits
Advanced Design
- Captures twice the trash compared to bar screens
- UHMW side seals and bottom sealing strip prevent debris from passing around the screen
Enhanced Cleaning System
- Two-stage process with modular brushing system and wash water jets help ensure the screen remains clean and clear
- Brush tension is controlled by an easy to adjust pivot
StapleGuard™ UHMW Polyethylene Perforated Panels (optional)
- Reduces debris “stapling” (or hair-pinning) onto the panels
- Highly abrasion, wear and corrosion resistant
Ease of Maintenance
- Easy to lift access covers
- Easy to reach assembly allows simple fine tuning
- Optional pivoting frame allows access to the entire unit from the operating floor level. The pivoting screen clears the discharge area completely making it even more convenient for operations and maintenance staff.
Cleaner Screenings with Screenings Washer Monster
- Grinds, washes, dewaters and compacts screenings
- Dewaters screenings up to 50%
- Reduces volume of screenings up to 95%
- Lower disposal costs and improved landfill acceptability
