In the News: ‘We Are Going to Have to Install a Monster’

Sunday, September 25th, 2011

According to the Mississippi Press newspaper a brand new Interstate 10 rest stop is now closed after motorists started flushing strange items down the toilets. Coming to the rescue? A Muffin Monster sewage grinder. The JWCE Team will get it built and shipped as fast as possible to get this rest stop back up and running.

“We’ve had some problem with motorists flushing things in the toilet system that should not be flushed such as diapers and feminine hygiene products,” said Kelly Castleberry, Mississippi Department of Transportation district engineer.

He said a couple of grinder pumps burned out under the onslaught.  ”Now, we are going to have go in there and install a monster,” he said.

New Bar Screen Monster Utilizes Exclusive Technology to Capture More Debris

Friday, September 23rd, 2011

Bar Screen MonsterJWC Environmental is proud to introduce the new Bar Screen Monster™, the first self-contained reciprocating rake screening system designed to capture and transport large amounts of wastewater debris to the discharge point.

Bar Screen Monster utilizes industry exclusive features such as a fully submersible, explosion proof brake motor that drives the rake along the tracking system. As the carriage moves up, the rake removes debris from the bar rack. The unit consists of a fully replaceable, non-lube pin rack and tracking system for easy maintenance without removing the screen from the channel. The pin rack and tracking system can be removed in sections – removing the carriage from the screen is not necessary.

“Our goal was to create a product compact enough for use in multiple wastewater screening applications but versatile in function to separate larger amounts of debris,” explained Kenny Oyler, Monster Separation Systems Director.

The dual-shafted grinder protects pumps and downstream systems from clogging and potential damage.

“The acquisition by Windjammer is the next logical step in our company’s history as we continue to invest in our products, capabilities and people in support of our growing base of customers,” said Ronald A. It’s a win-win for both the JWC family and the wastewater treatment community,” said Mr. Duecker.

JWC’s experienced senior management team, who by virtue of this transaction will have an ownership interest in the company, will continue to lead the company and implement its strategic and operational plans. Case Study: Macho Monsters Protect Sewage Pumps in the OC

Thursday, August 4th, 2011
Lower Salada Pump Station

Two Macho Monster grinders protect two sewer pumps from ragging and clogging problems.

When a Southern California wastewater district faced nightmarish pump ragging and clogging issues in one of their largest lift stations – operators knew exactly what to do. They recommended installing the industry leading Muffin Monster® sewage grinder – or in this case – its bigger brother the Macho Monster.

Operators from Moulton Niguel Water District were clearing out sewage pumps every other day at the Lower Salada Lift Station located near the coastline in Orange County. The dry-pit station is deep underground with a congested working area. During peak flow, the three 400-hp (300-kW) pumps need to move millions of gallons (40-175 l/s) of sewage to the treatment plant to prevent a back-up or overflow.

NEW SWM-XE Gets Tough on Wastewater Solids

Thursday, June 9th, 2011

Screenings Washer Monster-XE

JWC Environmental’s Screenings Washer Monster® (SWM-XE) just got tougher! The newly redesigned SWM-XE features a programmable controller, a new low profile tank design and a triple zone wash system for the cleanest discharge in the industry.  The Screenings Washer Monster-XE is a patented, self-contained, hopper-fed system used to effectively grind, wash, compact and dewater the rags and trash captured by wastewater screens and  is available as part of our complete Monster Separation System® fine screen unit or for installation to accept solids behind current screen(s).

JWCE’s patented Smart Controller™ logic has three fully programmable operational stages that continually monitor the operation of the system. Each stage provides separate controls to provide proper washing of solids.

“The Smart Controller acts like a personal system engineer,” said Rob Sabol, JWCE’s Director of Engineering. “Continually making adjustments based on incoming content and flow allows the Screenings Washer Monster to produce the best quality discharge.”  Discharged screenings are cleaner, drier and less expensive to transport and dispose of at landfills.  (more…)

Two U.S. Patents for Monster Blind Diagnostic System

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Monster Blind Diagnostic System

JWC Environmental is pleased to announce it has received two U.S. patents (Nos. 7,771,589 & 7,854,850) for its Monster Blind Diagnostic System™ (MBDS) technology. The newly patented MBDS adds more features to the popular line of Finescreens by notifying plant managers about screen blinding and any upsets in the system – giving operators plenty of time to adjust the flow or the screens well before an incident can occur. The controller can even suggest preventative maintenance steps to improve operation.

“We listened to customers tell us that a device is needed to determine the percent of screen blinding.  No one else in the screening market has developed a system to tell the customer how efficiently the screen is operating,” said Scott Kelly, JWC Director of Sales. (more…)
