Two U.S. Patents for Monster Blind Diagnostic System

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Monster Blind Diagnostic System

JWC Environmental is pleased to announce it has received two U.S. patents (Nos. 7,771,589 & 7,854,850) for its Monster Blind Diagnostic System™ (MBDS) technology. The newly patented MBDS adds more features to the popular line of Finescreens by notifying plant managers about screen blinding and any upsets in the system – giving operators plenty of time to adjust the flow or the screens well before an incident can occur. The controller can even suggest preventative maintenance steps to improve operation.

“We listened to customers tell us that a device is needed to determine the percent of screen blinding.  No one else in the screening market has developed a system to tell the customer how efficiently the screen is operating,” said Scott Kelly, JWC Director of Sales. (more…)

JWCE Wins Another Large California Headworks Project

Thursday, March 17th, 2011

In February JWC’s Monster Separation System was chosen by Daly City, California for their headworks reconstruction project. Two old filter screens currently in use are obsolete technology and failing.

Order includes:

“They were very interested in Finescreens,” said Dwight Craig of Misco Water, the equipment consultant on the project. “They chose JWC’s high-quality, robust fine screens to keep rags and trash our of their treatment process. This is a real nice upgrade for them.”

Daly City’s facility treats about 10 million gallons per day and produces recycled water for landscape and golf course irrigation. The purified water meets California’s strict Title 22 recycled water requirements.  Biosolids are also recycled as landfill cover and fertilizer. (more…)

Chinese Water Officials Visit the Muffin Monster

Sichuan Water Officials

Chinese water officials, led by Li You, from the Sichuan Dept. of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (fifth from left) and Ron Duecker, President of JWC (seventh from left) visited JWC and the OCSD Facility in Fountain Valley

On March 10th a delegation of eleven Chinese water officials from Sichuan Province visited JWC in Costa Mesa to hear a presentation about the Monster family of wastewater solutions. The luncheon was hosted by Ronald A. Duecker, JWC’s President, and covered the complete range of products.

Mr. Duecker explained each product and its application, from Muffin Monster® sewage grinders to Monster Separation System® fine screens. The Muffin Monster name is so well recognized several people in the delegation already knew about them and had seen Muffin Monsters installed in China.

The delegation is studying water and wastewater treatment technologies and spent several days touring facilities in Southern California. Including an in-depth tour of the award winning Groundwater Replenishment System (GWRS) in Fountain Valley.  The GWRS is a joint project of the Orange County Water District and Orange County Sanitation District. OCSD is a major Muffin Monster customer – using about a dozen in-line grinders to protect sludge pumps and break-up solids in sludge lines.

Ivy Canada, JWC’s distributor in China, provided the presentation and literature in Chinese for the delegation.

JWCE Wins Contract to Supply Entire Headworks System for Carrollton, Ohio

Wednesday, December 1st, 2010

In mid-October JWCE received a large order from the City of Carrollton, Ohio for our complete Monster Separation System headworks. The order includes several large machines which pre-treat wastewater as it enters the City’s new wastewater treatment plant. The Monster Separation System will screen out, wash and convey rags, trash, plastics and grit before the debris ever has a chance of entering the facility.

The order includes:

The highly automated JWCE headworks system also includes these exclusive control systems:

  • Monster Blind Diagnostic System (patented) – for instantaneous updates on flow rates, screen blinding and automated headworks operation
  • MonsterTrack billing controller for the septage receiving system

Providing on-site assistance with the design, installation and start-up is Bergren Associates - JWCE’s representative for Northern Ohio.

Since 2003 JWCE has installed hundreds of perforated plate fine screens throughout America as wastewater treatment plants upgrade from bar screens to perf plate fine screens for their higher capture efficiency. The Screenings Washer Monster is designed to handle the heavier loads of debris and fecal matter associated with fine screening. The fine screen captures more debris than ever before and the SWM grinds it, washes it, cleans it  and compacts it. The SWM returns soft organics to the treatment plant flow where they belong.

Earlier this year JWC passed another major milestone – manufacturing Muffin Monster grinder number 25,000. The dual-shafted Muffin Monster has become the industry standard for solids reduction in wastewater and sludge. The proof is in the incredible number of Muffin Monsters purchased by customers and out there grinding away on debris to keep sewer and sludge pumps free flowing and clear!

“We’re proud of this milestone, and I know as a team even more achievements are ahead of us,” said Woodie Chambers, JWC’s Chairman of the Board. “In 1973 my father Joe developed the Muffin Monster grinder and I’m proud of the leading edge technologies we continue to develop for grinding, screening, washing and receiving.” (more…)
