Stormwater Overflows

JWC Storm Monster

Storm Monster® - Cleaning up combined stormwater overflows (CSOs) is of growing importance to officials, citizens and plant managers. The innovative Storm Monster® is a continuous loop fine screen that allows extremely high flow levels, while preventing pollution from escaping the treatment plant. During storm conditions, overflow wastewater passes through a continuous band of perforated panels with 6mm openings, while solids, floatables and trash continue downstream to the treatment plant.

The screened flow passes from the channel, through the system and over a weir at up to 114 MGD  (5 m3/s) and is then routed, blended or stored. Use multiple screens for additional capacity. The unique “dog-leg” design allows double the flow of similar equipment and keeps the brush and drives above the water line to ensure efficient, reliable operation and long life.

Benefits: Attaches right to the current overflow weir – even in cramped locations; highest flow rate of all storm overflow screens; higher capture rate of solids than bar screen systems; dogleg design submerges more of the screening panels for greater open area and keeps the clean-off brush out of the flow; stainless steel panels move along UHMW strip side seals to avoid the passage of unscreened material.
